Update 22 August 2019 Update 23 July 2011 Yesterday the 22nd July 2011 was the launch of my Audeen project. I have attached a few pictures that you might be interested in using for your most enjoyable web letters. Notwithstanding the many things that could have gone wrong, the day was a complete success and probably one of the most exciting during my lifetime. The Audeen ran well and was very, very quick. The appearance of the boat drew many admirers and of course my wife and I were more than happy to explain just what was happening. People felt that they were also part of something very special. Thank you once again for supporting such a wonderful website and providing such great entertainment for so many of us “Boatbuilders” Update 7 January 2011 It has been some time since I last reported my Audeen progress, but be assured that I have been working diligently. All being well, my launch date should take place in June or July of 2011. I am still spending many hours on your wonderful web site. Keep up the good work. Update 22 May 2009 Just a note to let you know that my Audeen is well under way after a bit of a delay. I had engine rebuilder problems which are now rectified. Engine has been rebuilt, tested and now stored under the green tarp in background. The engine hoist is in the middle of the ceiling of my garage and therefore I could not assemble my boat frames until the engine was returned. UGH! So you think that you may have enough clamps? Buy more! I laminated the sheers from white oak but the chines are made from a nice 17' piece of ash. Steamed once, twice, three times and then yes, four times. (See the box in the corner). I will start the "fairing" process next week. Yahoo! 11 January 2008 My Audeen is beginning to sneak up the basement stairs as you can see from the attached. I hope that spring arrives early here in Ottawa. My wife, meanwhile is operating the jackhammer at the south wall of the basement (not really). I have simply left my glue bottle on the shelf and all of this will be disassembled and moved to the garage in April. Who says you can't build a boat in the basement? My name is Mark Radanovich. I picked up the Audeen frame kit and plans in July 2005 and was able to meet Allyn before he retired. I have finally finished a smaller boat and made some space to start the motor stringers on 09/05/2006. Attached are some photos.

April 8, 2003 Re: Audeen Dear Sir: This is the 3d of four Glen-L designs I have built. The Audeen has mahogany frames, decks, cabin trim and motor cover. The longitudinal battens are oak with stiffeners. The sides are 3/8\" and the bottom 3/4\" marine plywood. It is powered with a 283 V/8 engine. The boat was completed in 1988 and is still pristine and being used regularly. The hardware, including the windshield brackets are from a 1954 Chris. It performs great and has won numerous awards at local wooden boat club shows, including the Skipper\'s Choice Award. I just completed my second Topper and will forward pictures soon. Letter: 1-10-98 Re: Audeen Gentlemen: Back in 1954 when I was 20 years old, like most of my friends, I wanted a boat. Young, no money, earning about $32.50 per week, I thought, no chance, then I came across a book of GLEN-L plans. That was my start, I bought blueprints only. After that, each week I would buy a tool, a plane, a saw, a square, a drill, box of screws, etc. The boat was constructed of white oak frames. The bottom was 3/8\" plywood. Sides were 1/4\" mahogany plywood. I bought a 1956 Ford Thunderbird 292 cu in V8 from the dealer for $400.00. This was a 250 hp out of a wrecked T-Bird with 6K miles. I used a Capital reverse gear box, out of St Paul, MN. Glenwood conversion parts, 12\"x16\" Michigan wheel to push the boat at 57 mph. In 1958, when the boat was launched, that was fast. We would pull 4 skiers most of the time, 6 skiers a lot, 8 on skis only about 4 times. We sold the boat in 1969 to a friend, they sold after 1975 to another friend. Then in 7-1-1997 they gave the boat to my son, free, if we would rebuild it. When I built this boat, the workmanship was flawless, I wanted it to last. So in 1997, after 30 long days and nights, we had rebuilt the AUDEEN into another good looking ski boat. The boat started life on the Mississippi River, then to Lake Okoboji, Iowa, now it has gone to Scottsdale, AZ. 40 years so far, how long will it last? Mark Prokes LaCrosse, WI

Aug, 2000 Dear Glen-L, I have enclosed a few snapshots of the Audeen we have just completed. She is a real head turner. I launched her for the first time July 31 of this year. I was sort of concerned that everything would go right, but she went better than I had hoped. I have a 350 Chev with a B-W 71C Velvet Drive, running a 12 x 16 left hand prop. I wasn\'t sure what kind of performance I should expect, but after talking with you at Glen-L and other Audeen builders, I thought I would have adequate power. She has power to spare. She pulls out of the water like climbing a ladder. You can feel the whole boat slide right up onto the surface. We spent the afternoon after the shakedown cruise tubing and skiing. I did do some performance options to the motor when I was building it. After seeing what she can do, I think anyone would be happy with just about any V-8, big or small. I want to thank everyone at Glen-L for the help and advise. On many occasions I would call with some questions that I\'m sure you thought were pretty elementary, but you answered them politely and with enthusiasm. Thanks again, Neil Olson
