February 2013 Update My Hercules trawler \"SERAI\" (means small palace or place of refuge). Beautiful Mahogany composite construction cruiser. Lengthened Glen -L design. Includes custom built trailer , (8000lb. rated). Diesel engine, low hrs. Fully equipped with large queen sized berth, shower, double ref./freez., three burner propane stove/oven, hot water heater, pressure water system, and many other amenities, all required coast guard equipment, and lots of electronics, including GPS, Radar,VHF, & depth-sounder. Dingy is a Zodiac w/ 5 hp. outboard. 2 complete anchor setups (Danforth & Northill), 1000 lb. lead ballast. 40 gal. holding tank, 90 gal. fresh water tankage, two 20 gal. diesel fuel tanks, and two additional 40 gal. ballast water tanks deal with heavy weather. Fitted with small but effective west-coast flopper-stoppers. A great cruiser for short or long term river/lakes/coastal cruiser. She\'d be perfect for a great-loop passage. The engine uses about 1 liter of fuel per hour at 5 kt., 2.5 at 7.5 kt. The exterior is bright -finished Honduras Mahogany with epoxy/fiberglas/Cetol finish. Interior is mostly yellow cedar/epoxy. Never spent more than a few days per spring to keep it perfect. The boat was appraised at 114,000 $ Canadian. 2004 Update Update of the information and pictures I sent earlier (about 3 years ago) on my stretch version of the Hercules. It has taken me that long to get finished because I was away for two years on an offshore project. We launched last summer with a total of about 4000 man-hours in the boat. I\'ve attached a picture of her at dockside. I spent most of the summer carrying out sea-trials, and this coming summer we should be ready for out first long cruise up the coast to Alaska. I\'d be happy to hear from anyone building or using a Hercules, and can now supply a lot of data on performance (engine size, prop size, fuel consumption, etc. 5 Feb 2001 This string of shots were taken down the portside inside the shop. Not really enough room to get good definition, and as you can see some detailing yet to do on the cuddy, installing the bronze portlights, and the bronze half-oval down the sheer and rub-strake. You can see the hull shape pretty well, and the copper-poxy bottom, etc. She really won\'t look right \'til we can get her outside for some perspective. Note the dolly under, which is a real Godsend in a small shop.

name: Douglas Booth Comments: I have a Hercules class trawler (24\')built in 1990. She is a fine sea going vessel and I use her extensively in the 1000 islands of the St. Lawrence River. She is a conversation piece at every dock I touch and a great Island hopper. Powered by a 20 horsepower Volvo Diesel she is also very fuel efficient.
