September 5, 2019 - My Minimaxed is already finished ! It has been 13 years since I started building it. I followed the plans and instructions for everything but the steering wheel mount, which is from the original Minimax plans. I am happy I finished it despite of tons of negative comments from family and friends. I always kept on mind that someday I will complete the building.

4 September 2007 This is the final product of the MiniMaxed my dad and I built. We painted the boat royal blue. We installed a 1960\'s 6-horsepower Evinrude. The boat goes about 25 - 27 miles per hour.

Subject: MiniMaxed Date: 10-22-02 Here are the latest pictures which you requested that we send. My son Anthony and I built this together over this summer. It will do about 23MPH with a 5HP and a 9\" pitch prop. You can post these on your site since we cannot find any Minimaxed pictures. Thanks Philip V. Crusco Lewes, DE

I attached a picture of the minimax I built. For your speed of boats section this does 20.2 mph (GPS verified) with me in it (235 lbs) and I used 7/16 plywood instead of 1/4\" therby adding an extra 35 - 40 lbs to the design. Power was an old sears gamefisher 9.9 with a plastic prop. It is a poor choice of power but it is what I have. The boat has all water tight compartments and is foam filled. I also enclosed the coaming air tight for added floatation in case I submarine it. Jim Jones

December 17, 2006 I built a Minimaxed from scratch in 1969 while in 11th Grade of High School. A year later I built a Glen L Rebel. I started the Minimaxed in Wood shop class and finished it in the summer of 1969. I ran it alot in the summer of 1969 and then sold it to get enough money to pay for a boat trailer for the Glen L Rebel I built in 1970. I purchased the Minimaxed plans from Glen L. It had a 12HP Elgin outboard on it. Attached is a picture of it from the summer of 1969. What a great boat and lots of fun that was! Going 22MPH only 6\" off the water in a boat that I built was a thrill I remember to this day. Brian H. Wilmers Michigan

March 15, 2007 Dear Glen L, Thought you might like these couple of photos of the Minimaxed my son and I built during last winter evenings. The pics were taken at the premier New Zealand antique and classic boat show just before Matthew won the under-10hp race. This is one of two Minimaxed\'s that we know exist in NZ. It was great fun to build and the only thing I have ever built excepting a wooden footstool at workshop when I was 11 years old. Kind regards Denis Laird New Zealand

Fri, 29 Apr 2005 Glen L, Sorry it has been so long for an update on my Minimaxed but I have been having too much fun with it. I launched it on April 4th with Great success. It floats. Unfortuneatly I only had a 2.5 hp motor for it and the motor was too small to plane out. I have since installed a 9.9 hp Evinrude and WOW! it will move out just great. I was worried that it would be too heavy of an engine but the boat handles it very well. The 2.5 was way too light and the boat would nose down in the water when you let off the gas. This would get the driver all wet and leave about a gallon of water in the bilge. This was my first boat building experience and now I am trying to talk to my spouse into the next project. \"A bigger boat\" I have included some pictures of my Minimaxed including some contruction photos. The only thing I would do different would be the finish. I filled the bow, port, and starboard spaces with spray in foam from a can. I thourghly tested it with water saturation, and gas contamination. It is great stuff and I would recommend it to other builders for small boats. Thanks Glen L for a great time, Mark Ballantyne
