Tiny Titan by Mr. Kim Thomet

Tiny Titan by Mr. Kim Thomet, Hastings, Michigan March 5, 2009 In 1969 my father and I built the Tiny Titan in our basement. I painted it orange with a black strip down the middle and we purchased a 10 H.P. Chris-Craft outboard and installed it with a steering wheel and dead-man’s throttle. Two years later I painted it red, white, and blue. Many weekends were spent on Hardy Dam Pond (the back waters of the Muskegon River near Morely, Michigan) and Bass Lake near Traverse City, Michigan. I felt pretty cool driving a boat that seemed fast at the time, but slow compared in today’s standards (60 mph on a jet ski?).

20 February 2008 I was rummaging around the attic today, and found these photos from the first Glen-L design my Dad and I built.....in 1966. I remember we bought the plans from you all, then bought the materials locally.

Tiny Titan by Glen Wilcox, Los Angeles, California

June 9, 2016 I began building in the fall of '02, and launched in January. The second outing was this month, August, '03. Both outings have seen water too rough for good planing. I'm disappointed that so many lakes near LA don't allow boats this small, presumably to avoid personal water craft. I deviated from the plans in only one area. I used a longitudinal batten (or carling) on the inboard side of the coaming from the dash beam forward, so that the forward decking could be mounted between the coaming instead of on top of it. This gives the coaming a nice clean line from stem to stern. When I was between high school and college, I built the similar version from the magazine.

Tiny Titan by Greg Roy, Auckland, New Zealand

May 14, 2008 Last year we bought a second hand Tiny Titan off Trademe (Trademe is New Zealand’s EBay) which I fitted an 8hp Yamaha on and this is the kids current boat. (See photos of our Thunderbolt and Squirt, too, on other Customer Photos pages)

26 December 2010 Started cutting and building right after I got the plans and the wood in July 2010. Right off the bat it was really easy, then putting together the frames I got a little confused. After I got the frames together it got real easy.

Tiny Titan by Alfred Marshall & Son

May 2013 Update I restored her and gave her a new paint scheme. 3 February 2004 My son and I put together a Tiny Titan when he was 12, as I wished my Dad had done with me. My daughter, however, has enjoyed our Tiny Titan the most these last 7 years. The stock Evinrude 15HP pushes her along at 32mph. My son made the whale\'s tail (hydrofoil) out of 1/8 inch scrap aluminum. I highly recommend the tail as it helps the Tiny Titan to plane off flat AND settle off a plane flat. When running, the tail flies 3/4 inches above the surface. I also recommend using a control box and Glen-L\'s steering kit to control the boat running a 15HP motor. The adjustable seat not only contributes to control, it adds considerably to comfort. Great design and little boat!
