Following on from the weekly newsletter where it recommended to drape wet towels overnight, I bought a 2.5m (10 ft) section of drainpipe and connected it up to my wife’s curtain steamer using some duct tape. I let it run for thirty minutes after steam was coming out of the other end and the longitudinals bent in sweetly with no risk of cracking (using Khaya Ivoriensis Mahogany).

I’ve used a similar method using a wall paper steamer linked to the drainpipe on Malaysian Kauri – it worked brilliantly. I can’t claim the applause though. I found the method on someone else’s post on the Glen-L forum pages!
