Today, Ray Macke walks us through the upgrades he made to to his True Grit. We detailed his changes in a previous blog post that you can read here, but it’s so much more fun to have Ray actually show and describe what he did!
Ray Macke is one of Glen-L’s famous boat builders. Ray’s first build was the Cabin Skiff and we thoroughly enjoyed following Ray on his intracoastal waterway trips. He wrote a series of articles that we published in our WebLetter. Ray travelled over 26,000 miles in his 18′ Cabin Skiff and his stories have always been so fun and interesting to read.
Watch today’s video to see the changes made to the table, the “admirals” seat area and the windlass…

Have built boats since age of 14. Am now 60. Have built two Glen-L boats during those forty-six years. Have a passion for dories/fishing/work boats which began when I first saw a Simmons Sea Skiff at Carolina Beach in the 1960’s. Met and talked with Ted Simmons at his shop in Myrtle Grove, NC. I have always believed Glen-L Marine set a level of excellence in the design world that all others work hard to achieve. The dories in your book of boat designs are really nice. Would like to go out to L.A. and meet all of you and especially Mr. Glen Witt. Maybe someday!
Good to hear from you Mike and thank you for your very nice comments… I hope to meet you soon!
