Zip Builder Interview

The Zip 14′ Runabout is one of our most popular designs. Chris Atwood, AKA “vupilot” on the Boatbuilder Forum, did a beautiful job on his “First Born”.

Before building the Zip, Chris had built model boats and airplanes. In this video Chris shares:

  • What made him decide to build a boat
  • How many hours it took
  • How much it cost
  • Why he chose Glen-L plans over any other
  • The ideal power for the Zip
  • Would he build another boat

We’re so proud of the beautiful boat Chris built. It is truly rewarding for us here at Glen-L to see a young man accomplish a project like this. Creating and building in wood is a rewarding endeavor that many in the younger generations unfortunately miss out on. Not Chris!

This interview was taken by Chris Dixon of Vineyard Productions at the 2010 Gathering of Boatbuilders in Tennessee.
